COVID-19 Safety at 2022 Steps for Life In-Person Events
Thank you for walking with Steps for Life. We are excited to have you participate this year. For local details, information can be found on your community webpage - click here for a list of locations.
The volunteer committees have been working diligently planning for the walks. The safety of our staff, volunteers and participants is our priority. We thank you in advance for your cooperation. There are a few things to keep in mind for your walk day (in the park).
We recommend contactless registration online prior to the event. If you are registering on the day of the walk, please either register at home on your computer or at the event on your mobile phone. Community registration will remain open to accept last minute registrations and pledges.
Tap-and-go! In addition, we will be offering contactless payments by either using the square or online website at in-person Steps for Life events. And if you have collected cash or cheques, in aiming for a paperless event we encourage you submit these gifts ahead of time using the various methods outlined in our tip sheet here.
Please note, all Steps for Life in-person events require that you are fully vaccinated. Health and safety is central for Threads of Life. We’ve often said that the safety of our family members, volunteers and participants is the top priority when we’re planning events. That’s why we have chosen to require full vaccination for anyone participating in an in-person Steps for Life-Walking for Families of Workplace Tragedy event this spring.
While vaccination is not a requirement for outdoor events in many jurisdictions, it is an extra layer of precaution we can take to control the risk of exposure to COVID-19. We’ll also be asking participants to observe other precautions such as distancing and wearing masks.
To avoid crowding, we ask that you arrive early with your required documentation ready. A volunteer greeter will welcome you and ask to see your ID and proof of vaccination.
All participants attending the Steps for Life event are required to bring:
- Government issued ID.
- Receipt of full COVID-19 vaccination or enhanced COVID-19 certificate for anyone 12 years of age or older.
- Those requiring a medical or religious/creed exemption will need to provide proof documentation.
- Masks are required when indoors, and when physical distancing is not possible. Please follow your local public health guidelines.
Anyone attending the walk event who is unable to provide the above items will not be able to participate on walk day. We encourage those of you to register to participate at home with your friends and family.
All staff, volunteers and participants will be required to wear a mask that fully covers the nose, mouth and chin Masks are required when indoors, and when physical distancing is not possible. Please follow your local public health guidelines.
We ask that you use the hand sanitizer provided as you enter the walk venue. Sanitizer can also be found at designated points throughout the venue.
If you, or any member of your party, are in quarantine or isolation, have come in contact with someone with COVID-19, are experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19 or have tested positive for COVID-19, do not come to the Steps for Life event. We are offering “walk at home” options as part of registration.
For contact tracing purposes, the information collected on your online registration form will be used should we need to notify you of any COVID-related issue.
We are here to help! Our volunteers will be on hand during the Steps for Life event to provide guidance on walk day. If you have any questions or feedback on your experience, please don’t hesitate to ask. We can also be reached at [email protected].
