Running for my Dad Rico
My dad, Ulderico Iannucci, known to all as Rico, was working on a job site on Parliament Hill on Friday, August 19, 2005.
The backhoe he was operating suddenly engaged, propelling the backhoe forward. The backhoe went through a concrete wall and fell over the embankment behind the library with dad still in the backhoe. He was pronounced dead on site and all before 8:00 a.m. that morning.
He was only 65 years old and could have retired but loved working so much that he didn't want to get away from it. Who knew that he would die doing something he loved?
Since May 2007, I have been running in the Ottawa Marathon in memory of my dad while raising money for Threads of Life. This year I will be completing the Voyageur challenge, which is a 5km, a 10 km and half marathon run.
I would like to contniue raising money for Threads of Life while honouring my Dad. What started as a one-time thing has become an annual event for me and to date I have raised over $25,000 for Threads of Life and would like to see that amount grow! Hopefully with all of your help and support I can reach my goal to raise a further $2500 this year. For more information, please visit
